Stainless Steel Welded Wire Mesh Panels

Stainless Steel Welded Wire Mesh Panels

Binze's stainless steel welded wire mesh panels are made of 304/316 stainless steel wire, featuring high strength, a smooth surface, and excellent corrosion resistance. The products are formed using automated resistance welding, with common mesh sizes ranging from 5×5 mm to 100×100 mm and a mesh size tolerance of ≤±2 mm. They have a service life of over 20 years and a stable overall structure.

Product Introduction

Stainless steel welded wire mesh panels are made from 304 or 316 wire, resistance-welded at every intersection on an automated line, so the panel behaves as one rigid grid rather than a set of loose wires. Panels are supplied cut to size with trimmed, bent or framed edges, in the opening sizes and wire diameters that suit the duty - the full range is in the table below. Non-standard openings, frames and cut-outs are made to order.

Material Selection and Characteristics of Stainless Steel Welded Wire Mesh Panels

Grade choice

Panel grade is a chloride decision. 316 carries 2-3% molybdenum and 304 carries none, but in clean indoor or food-handling duty the two behave alike. The difference shows up only where chlorides are present-coastal air, salt deposits, brine, chlorine sanitisers-and there 316 is the grade to order. Where a panel is welded into a frame or otherwise reheated, order 316L: the lower carbon keeps the weld zone from losing corrosion resistance.

Panel construction

Every intersection is resistance-welded, so the panel is one rigid grid rather than wires held loosely in place. Loads spread across the whole sheet, openings stay square and true, and no wire can shift in service. Wire diameter sets the duty: 0.1-0.5 mm for fine filtration and sieving, 0.5-2 mm for guards, screens and decorative work, 2-6 mm for load-bearing guards and cages.

Corrosion resistance

Panels are salt-spray tested to ASTM B117, with no red rust on the base metal as the pass criterion. 316 takes substantially longer exposure than 304 in the same test, so the two grades are never quoted with one figure-ask us for the current report for the grade you are specifying.

Hygienic and safe

The wire is uncoated-no plating or polymer to flake into the product stream. The welded grid is smooth and free of crevices, so it cleans down with normal wash-down practice. Food-contact compliance is a property of the wire grade rather than the finished panel, and it is documented through the mill certificate.

Structural strength

Resistance welding fuses every intersection, so the panel holds its geometry instead of relying on wire spacing. Weld shear strength scales with wire diameter, so we quote the diameter alongside any strength figure-send the span, load and fixing method and we will size the wire.

Cost over the service life

Uncoated stainless has no recoating cycle and no replacement schedule driven by coating failure. Whether that beats galvanised mesh depends on your service life, environment and maintenance regime -give us those three and we will run the comparison on your duty instead of quoting a range.

Customization, Documents and Delivery

Raw material control

Wire is purchased direct from major mills such as Taiyuan Iron & Steel (TISCO) and Baosteel, with the mill certificate supplied. Nickel, chromium and molybdenum content is verified per heat, so the grade on the certificate is the grade in the panel.

Custom work

Irregular cutting, punching or laser cut-outs to match your mounting surface; welded frames, mesh cages, coils and curved panels; electrolytic polishing where a finer, easier-to-clean surface is required.

Inspection and documents

Wire diameter and grade are verified against the mill certificate on receipt, weld quality is checked by sample shear test, and opening, diagonal and panel size are measured during production. Each shipment is traceable to the wire heat number. Available documents: mill test certificate (MTC), third-party inspection through SGS, BV or your nominated agency, and inspection photos before shipment.

FAQ

Q: Will this Stainless Steel Welded Wire Mesh Panels rust after long-term use?

A: Not at all. We use genuine 304 or 316 stainless steel, which is highly resistant to rust-even when used in damp environments for extended periods. It can withstand over 1,000 hours of salt spray testing, so you can be completely confident in its corrosion resistance.

Q: What is the typical service life of this product?

A: Under normal conditions, it can easily last for over 20 years. It's a "set it and forget it" solution-install it once and enjoy long-term, worry-free use.

Q: Does a thicker wire mean a stronger, more durable mesh?

A: For a given mesh opening size, a thicker wire will indeed offer greater load-bearing capacity. However, it's not always necessary to go for the thickest option. We recommend choosing the specification based on the actual load you need it to support and your specific installation method; selecting the right spec ensures the best value for your money.
